..."Wake up!" Sophie urged the others. "Look at the sky, wake up!" Billy snored. Betty opened a single eye and closed it again. Bob simply rolled over onto his other side. "Can't you see the huge black clouds?" Sophie asked them, but they didn't listen....
"I will find my way home. And I will find my family too!" said Sophie. "I am clever and I am strong! Can you help me, please?" "Go to the mountain creek, kar week, kar week," the currawong suggested....

The wind blew gently over the bay. Emily was very happy.
"Screech, screech!" cried a voice from somewhere up above Emily's head. It was Brenda the Seagull. "I am back," laughed Emily, "back on the island!" "I can see that!" shouted Brenda. "And you've come just in time! It is Wally's birthday today and everybody is invited!"...

"Woof, woof!" Brandy the Sheep Dog came running up the paddock. "Oh, no," thought Lucas, "just when I'm in the middle of my meal. What does Brandy want?" "Woof, woof," barked Brandy. "Woolly the Sheep can't find her lamb! Woof, woof!" Lucas liked Fluffy the Lamb. He was such a cute ball of wool, and only a few weeks old. "But you're the sheep dog," said Lucas to Brandy. Lucy heard a loud crunching sound. "That must be the parrotfish," thought Lucy. "Let's see if they want to play with me!"...
..."Is there anybody here at all," Lucy asked herself, "who will play with me today?" A school of snapper passed her. "No time," said the snapper, "there is no time. We must be on our way!"...
...They swam to a beautiful valley between the corals. Lucy found lots of friends. The potato cod, the butterflyfish, the surgeonfish and the moorish idols all played with her.
